I was watching a show called NakedScience on the NatGeo Channel. It was the Earth Day episode, and focused on how satellites have improved our understanding of how our planet works, and our impact on it. In one segment satellites were used to track the growth of plants in the Amazon jungle. They discovered something counter-intuitive - the plants grew significantly more in the so-called dry season.

A lot has happened, so I'm just going to jump right into it. I've finally gotten a job. I started last week, and I now need to figure out how to find the time to work 40 hours, commute 16 hours, and get to the gym.

I had an argument with someone recently over, of all things, why the sky is blue, and it really made me think. My friend insisted the sky was blue because the ocean was blue and the sky was reflecting the light from the ocean back down to us. He had been told this by someone he trusted a long time ago, and believed it without question. He is, of course, completely wrong.

I couldn't help myself. I watched a couple episodes of Kirstie Alley's new show, Her Big Life. It seems she's regained the weight (I'm right with you girl), and has a plan on how to loose it and start a new career too. She's gonna create a new line of weight loss products.

Thank You Scott Brown. Because of your election, we have health care reform. I know you're against the reform law, and voted against it, too, but I still feel we own you for its passing.
Here's my logic.

My diet's been on again/off again, and I haven't made it to the gym nearly as often as I should or would like. The good news is that my weight is stable, so my lack of focus hasn't cost me too much - yet.

I don't know if it is true or not, but I heard on npr that, based on statistics, nearly half of the US population has donated, in one form or another, to the relief effort in Haiti. It cuts across all ages, races, religions, genders and political parties. This is proof positive that we're more similar than dissimilar. When push comes to shove, we're all human beings with the same core values.
This, above all else, gives me hope for the future. |

OK Here's a confession. Last week I felt tired. I mean REALLY tired. Thinking it was due to the low-carb diet and all the gym time, I decided to take a break from them both. I went back to eating "normally" and skipped the gym for a few days.
